What a great resource for a new or fairly new blogger! I especially enjoyed the daily format of the book – one lesson and task per day. Most didn’t take me more than 15 to 30 minutes, so very reasonable. It was actually fun to have a daily action step. To keep myself from just reading ahead and not actually doing any of the tasks, at the beginning of each week, I printed out the next five days. Then I’d read one page a day, follow the directions and take notes on the printout. This method worked very well for me with one exception – the extra reading. Darren shares a lot of excellent additional reading and information, but it’s in link format. Since I was working off a print copy, I’d have to go back into the online version and click the links. A bit cumbersome and I found myself skipping those that didn’t sound too interesting.
I have had my blog for many years, so I have already implemented many of the tips, however I still found it an excellent review of things I’ve done, and there were a few unique ideas. My favorite tip was Day 11, “Come up with 10 Blog Post Ideas.” This is ALWAYS a useful exercise – and definitely a help when I’m struggling to come up with something new. It’s also a great way to prepare yourself ahead of time for a busy season when you don’t have the extra time to work on your blog.
I would highly recommend this book to a new blogger. Follow the tips and you’ll have a fabulous start to your blog. In addition, even as a seasoned blogger, I think it’s useful to run back through the program every few years. I know that I plan on doing just that.

The book “31 Days To Build A Better Blog” is a must read for anyone who is starting their first blog, have been blogging for a while or just wanting to refresh their blogging knowledge. I have been blogging for a few years now and thought I had gained a fairly good amount knowledge on the blogging process; after reading this workbook I realized there was so much more I could learn. The book starts off with “writing an elevator pitch for your blog.” This task is designed to make you think through what your blog is all about which in my opinion is something a lot of us neglect to do. This process is to help let others know what your blog is all about.
As the workbook continues it tells you how to write certain types of posts such as a list post by giving you examples and definitions of different types of list posts and takes you through reasons why list posts are powerful for bloggers. It also gives you notes at the end of the chapters to sum them up. It gives you strategies that are very easy to implement by anyone.
This workbook takes you through many aspects of building a blog by giving you information on promoting your blog, building a post list, interacting with your readers, choosing the correct fit in social media platforms for your blog as well as using normal outlets to spark creative thinking in choosing your post ideas as well as other aspects of blogging. This book, as I said previously, is a must read for anyone who is a blogger; both new and seasoned. It gives you tasks to complete, many examples and extra reading material. It is a book written from a successful blogger’s journey. This book offers the blogger expert direction and guidance. It is an amazing read that did not disappoint me and can withstand the test of time as a good resource to look back at. I would recommend this book to all who are starting or are seasoned bloggers.

I thought the book was great for a brand new blogger. Most of the tips I already knew or already implemented on my blog. I did not see much blog growth or improvement because much of the information was not new to me. My favorite tip was to make a list of 10 post ideas. I have been doing this since the start of my blog. Ideas come to me all the time, so I keep a word document on my desktop with post titles in it. If you don’t write it down, you will lose it! Having ideas at your fingertips is so important for those days that you have little inspiration. You can open your list and pick a topic to research and write about! I would recommend this book to a person who is just starting out as a blogger.

I’ve been regularly blogging for over 4 years, and I still found this book incredibly useful. I’m a very task oriented person and love being able to check things off my “list.” With “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” you are given a new task everyday, and that’s it. If you complete just that one task each day, you will slowly move your blog ahead. The best for me was that the tasks all took less than 30 minutes, which is an amount of time I an easily fit into my schedule.
Each task provides so much information, too. You start with an introduction, then you’re given the task, and finally you’re provided some added notes and additional reading. There’s no confusion tied to the process because you’re given so much detail.
One quick caveat, this book is not a technical based book, so there aren’t directions on how to set your blog up, it’s basically assumed that you’ve done all that background work, already. (If you haven’t, Blogelina can help you get your blog set-up.)
My absolute favorite parts, were the areas of the book where you were given tasks tied to content. I struggle with motivation, like a lot of writers, and his approach to come up with topic ideas ahead of time would help curb my lack of motivation. If I have ideas created ahead of time, then all I need to do is sit down and write. Instead of having to go from start to finish, brainstorming, outlining the post, creating an attention grabbing headline, then writing.
I would absolutely recommend this book to all bloggers, no matter if they were new or seasoned.
As you can see, 31 Days to Build a Better Blog, is one heck of a book for any blogger who wants to grow their blogging network. So, take some time and read the book, and make your blog the best blog it can be!
