Blogging requires finding creativity even on the worst of days. Being highly productive, even on a rainy day when you’d rather be in bed, can be tough. But, you can’t cheat your way to the end of the workday. You need to put your hands on the keyboard and write – this is exactly what makes a successful blogger. As we all know, for bloggers, productivity starts from the moment they get up from their beds.
Today we’re sharing some insights into some secret morning routines of highly successful bloggers.
Start the Day Early
If you are always wondering why you don’t have enough time to get things done, it might just be because you don’t get up early enough. In fact, Jessica Lawlor, the founder of the very successful Get Gutsy blog, wakes up every morning at 5 a.m., so that she gets enough time to drink her coffee, enjoy the quietness of the morning, squeeze in an effective workout and start her workday. Not so bad right? And then she has the entire day left for writing, working and relaxing.
Salute the Morning by Writing
Jeff Goins – an author and a blogger, who even wrote a book about how to become a professional writer – “You Are a Writer,” loves to start his morning early so that he can make breakfast and write something “anything.” He says that it’s not what you write about, but that you just need to write something. This can be a great idea, because creative activity is the highest immediately after sleep and the best time to get ideas is right after waking.
Meditate and Clear Your Mind
Many successful bloggers start their mornings by meditating. Elizabeth Dehn of Beauty Bets takes 10 to 20 minutes for meditating and clearing her mind after waking up. This is a great technique to de-stress, but when we work at such a hasty pace, the nature of our jobs, requires that we are burdened with technology, so more meditation may be needed. I have recently visited a fantastic spiritual retreat in Australia, where I have discovered how the right breathing techniques, enough rest and empowerment to help make healthy choices, can affect the mindset and productivity.
Hydrate to Fuel Your Brain
Many people in the blogging community, especially beauty bloggers, such as Deepica Mutayala and Amber Katz, know just how important it is to have a morning glass of water. This is actually one of the best morning habits to have, because it hydrates you, fires up your metabolism, fuels your brain, helps your body to flush out the toxins and makes you want to eat less. This one little thing can be a true game-changer, and make you more energized and prepared to face your daily challenges.
Be Active
Exercising in the morning helps you create a lasting habit, jump starts your metabolism and helps you feel energized for the rest of the day. It can also assist in putting you in a healthy mindset, improve your focus and to regulate your blood pressure, circulation and heart rate. It is no wonder that many successful bloggers are doing it. Melissa Alatorre loves to kick start her morning by heading to the gym before the morning rush beats her to it, but she also enjoys getting warmed up by walking her dog around the neighborhood, before her workout session.
Have a Positive Mindset
If you start your day with negative thoughts, it is very difficult to fix them down the road. You may end up feeling dissatisfied throughout the day, which can have a poor effect on your writing and relationships. Nikki DeRoest founder of the Hello to Beauty blog loves to sit in a pile of cozy pillows and read a prepared set of positive mind cards to see what universe has to say to her that day.
Each of us creates our own habits, but it is useful to have a sneak peek into the secrets of successful people and take some hints from them.
