5 Apps to Help You Manage Your Blog

I’m so excited to be writing for blogelina.com. It is an excellent resource for bloggers, offering weekly events, helpful advice, blogging services, and much more. I particularly recommend this article on how to secure your WordPress site with dual authentication.

Smartphone and tablet apps are making their way into our lives so much that there is an app for everything from cooking to yoga. Blogging certainly hasn’t escaped this trend, and there are plenty of different applications that will save you time and effort when it comes to your blog. You need help managing it while still maintaining control, and the following apps listed will help you do just that.

WordPress

There are a staggering number of major WordPress users out there who do not use the WordPress app on their smartphone. While you might be able to use the website on your smartphone, the application is, as a general rule, much easier to manage and is great for getting blogging statistics and information at a glance. You can also turn on notifications so that you can respond quickly when someone comments on a post of yours.

After you download it, you will sign into your account and then you will be able to use the different tools available from the app to help you with your blog. While you may write posts on the application, you will find yourself editing posts more frequently as you review and find tiny new mistakes in your previous posts. It is also a great app to try to find new ideas or places that you might be able to guest post on, as the reader is easier to use than a webpage.

You can find the app for iOS or Android, and the app is free to use so there is no risk involved.

Planner Plus

A good blogger needs to be able to manage their appointments and meetings as well as schedule aside time to write. Planner Plus is an application that acts as a planner and organizer for you as well as a calendar that will integrate with all of your other accounts and applications. With features such as multiday events and recurring events for things such as a weekly skype meeting, you will be able to get your life in better control so you can get your blog in better control.

Once you install the app and sync up all of your accounts, you will be able to add new notes, appointments, and other plans from the application. Once you get used to it (it won’t take too long), you will find yourself checking it immediately whenever someone else wants to schedule something with you or you want to check to see if you can go to an event.

You can find Planner Plus at a price of $4.99 for Android or $8.99 on iTunes. While it may be expensive compared to other apps, it has a lot more functionality to it and no subscription costs.

A Virtual Private Network

Just as important as the content on your website is the protection of the content on that website, along with any information that your readers and subscribers elect to give you. Should you lose that information or your blog be hacked, then it will take a long time to rebuild if rebuilding is even possible. On public networks or other networks of questionable security, you can run into hackers and cybercriminals who will try to intercept your data.

How you protect yourself is by getting a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for your smartphone (and laptop). What a VPN will do is after you log in it will connect your device to an offsite secure server over an encrypted connection. You can use this in order to remain private online (it masks your IP address) or appear as though you are in a different country so you can use regionally restricted content for your research. You will also remain protected regardless of which network you use due to the strong encryption on the connection.

There are VPNs for every operating system out there, and they come at a variety of costs. I personally recommend an option such as ExpressVPN in order to safely manage your blog. It can be purchased on a monthly, six month, or annual plan and comes with a 30-day, money-back guarantee, so you can always try it for the first month and then upgrade to a better plan later.

Evernote

Bloggers who are trying to keep a billion ideas in their head will find relief should they use Evernote, a note-taking application that can take all of your notes for you and can take audio clips, photos, and screenshots as notes. It is wonderful for when you see something on your smartphone you don’t want to forget, but you can’t stop and sit down.

If you see something on another blog, then notation is key for improvement, as time will take away all good ideas. If you want to come up with some details about a project you are working on, then you will be more inclined toward the recording features of the app, which are the best available compared to others like it.

Evernote is free, and you can download it for your particular device by going to the app webpage and then clicking the link to the app store for your particular smartphone. While there are premium subscription options available, you probably won’t be needing them unless you run a lot of photos or audio clips through the app.

Hootsuite

If you find yourself extending your brand through social media a lot, then Hootsuite is probably the app you will want to try out the most. It is a social media app that will allow you to bring together your various account into an ongoing stream. While on your computer, you can keep several tabs open, but this isn’t so easy when you are working with a smartphone. Try to think of the time you will save not going from one website to another, and you will gain a more holistic view of your social media presence and where a lot of the activity is coming from.

Once you download it and input what social media accounts you want it to have access to, you will be able to respond quickly to whatever you need to, giving a greater impression that you are responsive to the community forming around your blog. While you still may want to check on individual accounts once in a while, you can generally focus and manage your blog easier, looking into the analytics it will give you and scheduling timed posts on your accounts.

There are various subscription plans ranging from free to enterprise (you won’t be needing that), and you can find it on iTunes and for Android.

Thank you for reading, and here is to hoping at least one of these apps suit your needs.
