Google Maps App For Android Adds "Business" Profile Tab

The Google Maps app for Android has seem to add a new tab to manage your business profile(s). The tab shows a store icon with the word "Business" below it. Clicking it, lets you manage your Google Business Profile listing directly in the app.

Google: Stop Using 403s or 404s To Reduce Googlebot Crawl Rates

Gary Illyes posted a new blog post on the Google Search Central site asking all of you to stop using 403 and 404 server status codes to reduce the crawl rate of Googlebot. He said they have seen an uptick in the number of sites and CDNs doing this and they need to cut it out.

Google has released Google Ads API version 13.0 and below is a list of what changed. Version 12.0 was released in October 2022, Version 11.0 of the Google Ads API was released in June, and version 11.1 was in August.

The other week I spotted this Twitter thread where someone was able to ask Microsoft Bing AI chat what its codename is. In short, Bing AI responded that it was "Sydney." The back-and-forth interaction is very Westworld interaction-like, which is funny.

Google On AI Content: Think About The Who, How, and Why For Your Content

Google's Danny Sullivan reiterated that when it comes to AI content, Google is fine with it, as long as the content is useful and written for people. If you are using AI to write spam, then that is against Google's guidelines. But Google also added a new section to the people-first content section on "who, how and why" with your content.

I'm At The Microsoft Bing Event Today - Expecting ChatGPT Search Integration

I am currently in Seattle, and headed to the Microsoft Campus in Redmond, for an in-person press event. I decided to go, assuming it would be related to ChatGPT and Bing but Microsoft would not tell me what it was about, nor would Microsoft let us say we are going to the event. Then yesterday at 2pm, when the news broke about Google Bard (story will be here), Microsoft said we can talk about the event.

CNBC reported the other day that Google is working on its own AI chatbot named Apprentice Bard. Apprentice Bard is reportedly built on Google's AI LaMDA language model stack and while Google is being more cautious with this rollout, Google is working on testing an AI bot in search.
